Family Home Reconfiguration on Selby Road, West Bridgford
A growing family had secured the perfect location on Selby Road in West Bridgford—close to work, family, friends and their children’s school. However, the house had been extended ad-hoc over the years, resulting in mismatched additions, awkward level changes, poorly lit rooms and a very busy, disjointed façade. One of the key goals of the project was to resolve this visually and bring coherence back to the architecture.
We proposed a rear extension to create a true heart of the home: an open-plan kitchen, dining and snug space supported by a new utility room. A dedicated home office was also carefully integrated.
Upstairs, the master bedroom was extended to incorporate a generous walk-in wardrobe and ensuite.
Outdoors, a contemporary outhouse was designed for summer use, and the garden was reshaped with a simple landscape strategy that worked with the existing level differences—reducing earthworks and creating a clean, functional, family-friendly space.
